Sure, it’s technically still September but it’s technically also the beginning of the Fall season. Right about now is when you should start thinking about what you’ll be dressing up as for this years Halloween. I am have trouble figuring this out for myself too, so I put together this list of my best ideas of DIY Halloween costumes.
As I was looking up ways to make your own zombie costume, I came across this very cool technique of using liquid latex to make flesh wounds look really scary and gross.. which is the effect you would like to aim for with a zombie costume. All you need for this costume is liquid latex, tissue paper, fake blood, some old clothes to rough up, and for added effect, contact lenses.
2. THE GRUDGE/THE RING
Simple, yet promising. All you need for this costume is a white dress that you don’t mind getting dirty (or you don’t have to dirty it, depends on what look you’re going for), a long black wig (if you don’t have long black hair), and some white and black face make up to give that dead look.
3. CREEPY BROKEN DOLL
After movies like Annabelle, the creepy doll costume has became much more serious. This costume just involves some heavy make up like very light foundation, very pink blush, mascara and fake lashes, and whatever else you think is necessary. Along with some black face make up to create “cracks” in your face. This can be completed with an old fashion looking dress.
Drifting away from scary, it’s a cute unicorn. To make the horn, all you need to do is roll it up to make the shape and hot glue it to a headband. Then you can complete it with buying or making your own tutu.
5. KITTY CAT
All you need to be a convincing cat is black clothing, a fake tail to stick on your bottom, eyeliner, whiskers, and some fake cat ears.
6. LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD
Very innocent among all the monsters. All you need is a black dress (almost every girl has that black dress), a red cape with a hood, and a basket or purse. This can be worn with black or red high heels or flats.
7. WHERE’S WALDO
It’s up there with the classics, a Where’s Waldo costume will always be recognized and its quite easy to put together. You might already have a long sleve shirt or t-shirt that is striped red and white, but if not then you just need a white one, some red fabric paint and tape. You just put the tape in strips on the shirt wherever you want the white to be, and then just paint it up. Finish this look off with a hat, big glasses and blue jeans.
The Jigsaw costume from the Saw movies… Great! All you need for this look is red, white, and black face paint, black pants, a black blazer, a white shirt and a red bowtie to completely it. Contacts are always optional.
9. THE BULLET HOLE IN THE FORHEAD
Okay.. so this one doesn’t really have an official title, but the point is that you’re a dead person and that’s good enough. This one is for people who are not really into dressing up, but still has to do something for Halloween. All you have to do is make a fake bullet hole in your forhead with black face makeup and fake blood, letting it trickle down your face. Don’t be afraid to let the blood get messy.
The almost classic nerd getup is an easy put together with stuff you probably already have. What you need is a button up shirt, suspenders, a bowtie, thick rimmed glasses and any pair of pants.
Hope this was helpful! 🙂
